I may be wrong but (quickly) reading the paper linked form the Facebook engineering blog about their framework for interlanguage communication (PDF) I had the feeling of remembering CORBA.
I confess that I haven’t spend a lot of time on the paper, nor have I looked at the framework itself, but the top level explanation matches almost perfectly the CORBA definition.
